Starting this up here because I’ve not seen anywhere else. Any recommendations for Pokémon rom hacks at all?
I’ve got a few for the first three generations at least.

* Generation 1

Pokémon Brown: The first project by hacker Koolboyman, a r/b hack featuring a new region and Pokémon from the first 6 generations. Don’t bother hunting for glitch Pokémon, he dealt with those with useless decamarks replacing each one, only knowing tackle, base stats of 0, and weak to Normal type moves— because of one of several new types that were added.

Pokémon Grape: A hack of r/b featuring a new region, Pokémon from other generations, a few new types, and you can actually SEE how much damage each attack does when it lands thanks to a number that pops up above the sprite, like in some other rpg games

Pokémon Red Rumor: A red hack that features new things like gender select and the running shoes. It’s essentially gen1 but with all those playground rumors like the truck mew, Pokégods, Mewthree I think, bills secret garden, and a place called brick town thrown in, among many other things.

* Generation 2

Pokémon Prism: A Crystal hack (originally g/s) project started by Koolboyman and taken over by RainbowDevs after Nintendo did their shitty copyright order thing. Features a new region, the region from the previous title, Brown, and bits from other regions too. Also has some Pokémon from at least the first 6 generations, and a few fan made Pokémon too. Also a few of the new types from Brown I believe.

Pokémon Crystal Clear: Set a few years after the original Crystal. A fully open world game with several starters and player character options, as well as starting location selection. Tackle the gyms in any order you want, rematch them for grinding purposes as many times as you want. And trainers scale with your badges too. Wild Pokémon don’t though so be careful!

Pokémon Christmas: A Gold (or was it Silver?) hack made by a guy named Mateo, set a couple years after the originals. It’s Christmas time, everything’s snowy and some areas are icy too, adding a few sliding puzzles to get rare items.

Pokémon Orange: A Crystal hack with fancy music (a demake of many r/s/e songs) set in the orange islands. Lovely graphics too, especially for a gen 2 title. A few Pokémon from other generations can be found too, including Rockruff if memory serves. There’s also a version that adds the events of “Pokémon the movie 2000”, the one with the legendary birds and Lugia.

* Generation 3

Pokémon Clover: A hack of Fire Red with a very nice musical arrangement, and fake Pokémon based on the ancient “4chan” memes. Also heavily references them and is incredibly challenging for some, especially late-game.

Pokémon Adventures: Red Chapter: A hack of fire red covering the events of the manga, plus a few fan events too. Covers at least Kanto and the orange islands, playing as Red from said manga.

Pokémon Ash Gray: A hack of fire red covering Ash’s adventures in Kanto and I believe the orange islands as well.

Pokemon Orange Islands: A hack of Fire Red covering Ash’s adventures in the orange islands.

Pokémon Glazed: A hack of Emerald that’s recently much harder to get hold of due to its removal from the pokecommunity forums and other places (nintendo court order shit). Features a new region, as well as a return to Johto afterward.

Pokémon Shiny Gold Sigma: A remastering of the original GS remake hack Shiny Gold which finally finishes Kanto and has several other areas

Pokémon Liquid Crystal: Though work appears to have stopped on this one, this Crystal remake covers Kanto and Johto, with many other areas, and even has an Orange Islands quest too.

Worth a look. You can look for the roms directly cuz patching to a clean rom is a pain in the fucking ass, you gotta get the right region, version, build number (in the case of fr/lg) and language

Sometimes it’s easier to just find a pre patched rom of a hack
